Maxi enjoyed an education in physics at the University of Zurich where he received his masters's degree and wrote his thesis on the topic of a novel type of photomultiplier tube and its feasability for future direct dark matter searches. He continues his studies as a PhD student where he is aiming to construct a small xenon-based two-phase time projection chamber for the group's own test facility MarmotX and also working in both the XENON and DARWIN collaborations.
Concerning hobbies, he enjoys music, taking a refreshing swim, preferably in rivers or the sea, and sports involving tables like table tennis or table football.
