The SHiP experiment has been given the approval by CERN! Check out more details in the latest news
Our group is focussed on experimental particle physics in several different experiments. We work on the data analysis, detector design and construction as well as interdisciplinary aspects such as machine learning which can be applied outside the field.

I am Professor at the University of Zurich and group leader of an experimental particle physics group at UZH, working on several experiments in particle physics, including LHCb, SHiP and Mu3e. I am interested in way machine learning can be used to improve how we do particle physics analysis, for which I am PI of an SNF advanced grant. I am also interested in interdisciplinary projects for example in epidemiology, for which I am CI of an SNF sinergia grant with Prof. Puhan, Prof. Burden and Prof. Figalli.
I received my PhD from the University of Cagliari with a thesis on rare decays of B-mesons at the LHCb experiment. From 2009 to 2013 I was postdoc at NIKHEF (The Netherlands) and at the University of Zurich, mostly based at CERN in Geneva. I was awarded an SNF Professorship in July 2013 and an SNF Starting Grant to work on the SHiP experiment in March 2015. I am now a tenured professor here at UZH.
