Growth on metals and transfer of two-dimensional material is a scalable route in device production schemes.
Monolayer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and graphene are grown by chemical vapor deposition on metal surfaces. The photograph above shows a 4 inch wafer growth substrate in Zürich air on the balcony of building 36. The group of Thomas Greber succeeded to exfoliate and transfer centimetre sized single layer h-BN from a 4 inch wafer. This project is currently pursued within the European future and emerging technology flagship Graphene.
